  • Victory Party Aug. 5th at Anchor High Grill

Posted Jul 22 at 10 AM

While it may be a little presumptuous, we plan to spend the night of the Primary Election on August 5th celebrating victory. As I am unopposed in the Democratic Primary, I think it will be an excellent time to start having fun and raising money for the general election. We will be watching returns on the water at Anchor High Grill from 7:00 until the races are decided. Come on out and have a great time with us! We already have a great lineup of sponsors: Charles Bone, Charles Robert Bone, Haynes Realty, The Thomas Lindsey Group, Mary Howard Hayes, Len Assante, Evan Espey, Adam Hill, Maria Brewer, Craig Hayes, Dixie Taylor Huff, Dr. Bruce Hill, and John Pellegrin.

  • Would the Real Job's Candidate Please Stand Up?

Posted Jul 04 at 1 AM

After a wonderful 4th of July celebration in Hendersonville and Gallatin, we can honestly say that this is the year for a positive campaign based around Jobs, Heathcare, and Education. While our opponent claims to be "creating an environment for job creation", she has actually been busy denying women adequate workplace compensation and helping people to carry loaded weapons into places serving alcohol. Earlier in the year, Maggart raised $40,000.00 at a NRA sponsored fundraiser then flipped her vote in favor of the "resturaunts only" ammendment to appeal the very same special interest. When the citizens of Sumner County voice their opinions they should be taken seriously instead of being run over and lied to like they claim to have been since Rep. Maggart has been in office.

As a licensed psychologist, Dr. Charles Ihrig spent the 4th of July weekend listening to people complain about the current representative's lack of judgement when it comes to bills relevant to Sumner County. Dr. Ihrig knows that the healthcare legislation needs to be reevaluated in an informed way instead of the current "give it the boot" philosophy that Rep. Maggart favors. Dr. Ihrig knows that by helping create trade schools  District 45 will truly serve as a job friendly community. He knows that sound bites shouldnt serve as the only means of understanding the legislation that comes out of Nashville. Lastly, he knows that Sumner County does not need to be the only county in the state without Pre-K.

Dr. Ihrig will continuously inform his consituents of legislation and not take them for granted. As your current Representative has been gearing up to make a run for Sen. Black's senate seat, Dr. Ihrig has been knocking doors and taking notes. It's time for true leadership to emerge from TN HD 45. After all, The State Capitol Could Use a Good Shrink!

  • Maggart is the reason Sumner is without Pre-K

She says she made her wiseacre remark about Rep. Debra Maggart because the Democrats were talking about how one of Maggart's counties, Sumner, is the only one in the state without pre-kindergarten classes.

  • In a Closed Door Meeting, Maggart helps NRA Put GUNS IN BARS

Posted May 10 at 12 PM

National Rifle Association lobbyist, Heidi Keesling, appeared in a normally closed meeting of the House Republican Caucus Wednesday and told members that the NRA opposed the "restaurants-only" amendment and considered it a "weighted" issue that would factor into the endorsements that the NRA gives out during election years. Fearing she would lose the endorsement of her biggest donor, Rep. Maggart promptly flipped her vote and gave into the organization responsible for funding her campaigns.
The NRA promoted and sponsored the “On Target to Win in 2010” fundraiser involving a “skeet shoot” that netted Rep. Debra Maggart (Hendersonville) right at $40,000.00 The easily swayed Maggart joined eight other legislators who voted in committee in favor of an amendment to ban guns in bars. In less than 3 hours after the NRA threatens to remove their endorsements and resulting money from their campaigns, they voted to kill the same amendment on the House floor.
Clearly, Ms. Maggart does not represent the 90% of her constituents who disapprove of this legislation and only represents her growing campaign war chest.

We are keeping our fellow Tennesseans in our prayers as this weekend was devastating to so many families. If you can, conserve water and stay away from the possibly contaminated flood waters.

  • The Tennessean: "Legislature Tackles the Meaningless"

Posted Mar 26 at 12 AM

Tennessee ranks fourth worst in the nation for adult hypertension and adolescent obesity. We have the 10th most awful level of emission of sulfur dioxide. The percentage of babies who die in the Volunteer State before their first birthday is comparable to Bosnia's rate. We are second in the country for one thing, though: the number of busted-up meth labs.
But instead of tackling those deep, systemic problems, the Tennessee legislature is fighting to protect your right to go fishing. Lawmakers are wringing their hands that an employee at the new Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga might utter a word of German. They are — despite a chancery court ruling — pushing to allow guns in bars.
